INTERVENTION

  • Nearly 30 poorest households have received low-interest loans to start raising pigs and chickens. 100% of these families have been able to increase their overall annual income by about 28-30%.
  • Aiming to help farmers utilize the wastes from livestock to produce fuel gas for daily use, we have trained 285 farmers on building household biogas plant at their homes. This has helped farmers save about €80-100 each year from purchasing gas and contribute to protect the environment from being polluted caused by animals’ wastes.
  • 3 community women groups have been established, involving more than 100 people. The group members were given training on equal roles between men and women in the family and society, equal sharing workloads in family and law against domestic violence. They then have shared their knowledge with thousands of other women in their communities.
  • Nearly 2,100 women and men have learnt about Vietnamese law on gender equality and law against domestic violence through 26 training courses and campaigns.
  • 300 women have received training on reproductive health care and HIV/AIDS. They have learnt importance of regular health check-ups, nutrition for pregnant women as well as origin, symptoms, causes of HIV/AIDS and treatment methods.
  • 3 children clubs have been formed with 90 members. The clubs have been a useful playground for poor children and contribute to promote child‘s rights in community.
  • About 1,000 children have been benefited from this.
  • Training on child‘s rights, child-abuse protection were provided to 2,500 children. As a result, 100% children have better awareness of their rights and 85% know how to protect themselves from all kinds of abuse.
  • 200 poorest children have been provided scholarships and school materials, helping to encourage them to stay at school.
  • 10 core worker groups have been set up in their resident areas, involving 300 people. These groups have been provided with knowledge on labor law, social insurance policy so that they work as facilitators to communicate such knowledge to thousands of workers.
  • 500 workers have been able to access the information centre where they can read books and newspapers to improve their social knowledge and skills.
  • 735 female workers have learnt reproductive health care, safe sex and HIV/AIDS. Thanks to that, number of cases of unintended pregnancy and abortion among them has reduced with few cases recorded this year.
