127 community groups have been formed, involving over 3,000 people. One of the major topics covered at the group meetings is the equal roles between men and women in the family and society, equal sharing of workloads and issues around domestic violence.
Over 7,000 women, men and children have learnt about Vietnamese laws protecting women and the importance of treating women fairly.
520 women have received loans and training to improve family incomes. 100% of these women are now successfully running businesses, like Mrs. Hanh who used the loan to rear livestock.
Five schools have been supported to improve school structures, including constructing and renovating classrooms, dining rooms and toilets. Lighting and water systems have been installed. And school learning materials have been provided. Over 6,000 children benefit from this.
Libraries have been established in six schools, with more than 7,000 books.
Health checks and hygiene lessons were provided to children, helping to reduce school absenteeism to just 9% from around 45%.
100 community leaders, parent association members and 600 children have been supported to continue encouraging children to enrol in school and to stay in school. They now monitor school attendance, and work with parents and children to resolve issues affecting education.
A 2km road was constructed to connect Huong Minh School with An Phu commune to improve access to the school.
