On November 28 and 29, 2020, AFV and ActionAid Vietnam (AAV) attended the Christmas Village event organized by JW Marriott Hanoi hotel. The event was filled with Christmas atmosphere and the participation of enterprises, international schools and NGOs in Vietnam.
Responding to the call to support people in the Central region, JW Marriott Hanoi Hotel will contribute 50% of the fund raised from this event to support people in flood areas. JW Marriott Hanoi has chosen AFV and AAV as partners to implement this charity program.
During two days of the fair, AFV and AAV brought unique products to contribute to raise funds for the Central region, with the theme “Together, we shall come back stronger!”. In addition to the organizations’ featured publications, we also shared stories, photos, and actual statistics about the damage and lives of people in the Central region after the floods at this time. Besides, we also displayed some specialties from Tra Vinh province such as Coconut Nectar and Polyscias Fruticosa Ginseng Tea at the fair. Tra Vinh is one of 12 active regions of AFV and AAV. Programs in Tra Vinh focus on the following areas: Building sustainable alternative livelihood models to respond to natural disasters and climate change, improving people’s right to access to clean water, enhancing access to quality public services such as education and health care.
After 2 days participating in the fair, the booth of AFV and AAV collected a total amount of 10,100,000 VND. Along with the donation amount from the JW Marriott Hanoi hotel (the number is currently being calculated by the JW Marriott Hanoi hotel), the entire fundraising amount will be transferred to the people in the Central region affected by flash floods and landslides in 03 provinces including Quang Tri, Quang Nam and Thua Thien-Hue.
AFV and AAV are sincerely grateful to the benefactors who visited our booth and accompanied with us during the past time. Thanks to you, we are strengthened to continue with activities to support people in the Central region who are heavily affected by flash floods and landslides.
Once again, thank you very much!
